The paranormal community is like links on a chain, each group is searching for the same thing in hopes that one day that each end will meet. I started my quest trying to figure out why there is so many arguments and bickering amongst groups within the paranormal community. The more I read the more frustrated I got and wandered what in the world is going on here! How many sour grapes are on the vine? And do they need plucking? This question can be very complex as how to answer it. As I was reading I noticed that the majority of sour grapes are the ones that are jealous of groups for something as petty as those that make headlines in the paper or those that get a video recognition. Then there are the groups the squabble over venues and locations of certain haunted locations and completely bad mouth a group for any success they may have. And I got to thinking, you got to be kidding me!
When did paranormal research come to this and why did paranormal research come to this? The shambles of kinks in this chain must be undone. If communication and working together doesn’t start happening then how can we be taken seriously by the general public? I can’t seem to understand why it got to this point and what was the “real” reason why so many got into this field. If all the energy that is put into these arguments could be put into researching as we are suppose to be doing, a heck of alot could get done.
Another reason why I decided to write this post is because of a similar experience that happened to my group. I have been an avid and dedicated investigator since 1992 after my Dad passed away. The experiences I had left me wandering and I wanted to know exactly what I had experienced. I founded Georgia Ghost Hunters in 2004 and ever since then we have been growing and learning and extended our group into two other chapters in Georgia. My entire team has become more of an extended family and I am proud to work alongside each and every one of them.
In November of 2006, I happen to run a cross Meetup.com, what a wonderful and great meeting area for new members to join and schedule investigations. My group is more into actually investigating and not out for glory and fame. There is more than you think than just investigating. Alot of time and research is involved and most serious groups can tell you the same. Anyway, my point is, I tried desperately to work with another group, but the battle of trying to get this other group to work with us was a battle that could not be won. After the most horrible things were said about my group, I even wanted to work with them after that, but I guess you can’t win all the time. I decided to try one more time by creating a neutral site for paranormal investigators to share and learn from one another. No prevail at all.
I enjoy working with other groups, we have so much we can learn from one another, after all, we are all researching the same thing, right? So to the paranormal community, un-kink these links in the chain and focus more on getting more involved with each other, there is no time like the present! Be kind to your fellow peers and focus on how we can all work on bringing our paranormal community together as a whole. I guarantee much more can be accomplished!
