You’ve made the decision to become a paranormal investigator. Does this mean you are wanting to be a serious researcher? Or are you content with simply ghost hunting as a hobby? You need to answer the question below honestly for yourself before taking on a “ghost hunting” group.
QUESTION: What brought you to the point of looking for a group?
A. I had/have had paranormal experiences and want to do follow up research to determine what exactly happened to me.
B. I have loved scary movies all of my life and thought it would be fun to investigate.
ANSWER A: You are ready to embark on formal investigations. You are looking for a serious group in search of answers. You are searching for a group to devote your hard earned free time to. The group you decide to join may cost you not only time but money. Investigating is no one’s paying job unless you are on the television. You have to be willing to fork out a few dollars to help the cause every once in a while. This group will be focused on gathering evidence and deciphering the explanable from the unexplained. You will notice that this group will return to investigate the same spot several times to ensure that all data has been collected to make informed decisions about the existence of paranormal activity. This group will be able to offer you diversity among its members. Each individual will bring their personal experience with them to collectively provide a broad vision of paranormal activity. There tends to be a constant core group of members within a serious group. You do not have the coming and going of investigators. This core group is essential in providing the foundation for a long lasting group of paranormal researchers. To see an example of this type of group, go to http://www.georgiaghosthunters.com.
ANSWER B: You are in it for the thrill of the hunt. You get excited by the spookiness of dark places. You want to see if you can “catch” a ghost. This group will feel more like a hobby than a need for answers. There will be no core group of members but most likely a revolving cast of leaders and followers. With this group, you will visit places here and there without any real decision on what you want to find. You are simply looking for a scare. There is no harm in that as long as you are with a group of people looking for the same thing. You might go to a meeting or see your group every once in a while but definitely not weekly, monthly or even daily like some of the serious groups do. I would give you an example of this type of group but I do not wish to hurt feelings.
So, do you know what type of “ghost hunter” you are? Have you answered yourself honestly about what you are wanting to get out of working with a group? Do you know what you are looking for when you find a group?
Make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. Be very clear with yourself and the leader of your group when searching. Most leaders will let you know fairly quickly if you are in the wrong group. And any good leader, whether serious or thrill seeking, will point you in the right direction.
Happy hunting!
