Everyday, “normal” people are having contact with some type of intelligent energy. These occurences are causing a mass number of non-believers to become investigators of the paranormal world. The amount of paranormal experiences being reported have left little doubt in most people’s minds about an existence of something out there. What is really going on that is so different from years past? Is it the opening of minds? Is it the progress of research and technology dealing with the paranormal? Or is it simply the natural process of two worlds converging together?

What is a paranormal experience? Is it an occurence of real space and real time or is it more of a state of mind? Can a person become more in tune to paranormal experiences by altering their mental status? Is there a certain “type” of person that is more in tune to the paranormal world? All of these questions are becoming the core research of investigators.

Some researchers believe that the events taking place now are the culmination of two worlds finally coming together in the same space. What has caused this convergence? It is a core belief of investigators that the world we live in has played a big part in this progress. In eras before, individuals were taught to ignore any unexplainable phenomena. It was casually swept under the rug as your mind playing tricks on you. This thought process led to a “quiet” time in the paranormal experiences. The existence of more and more evidence shown in the news media has resulted in the clearing of clouds in the skeptic’s minds. The open talk of paranormal phenomena has allowed individuals to explore the possibilities and not feel ashamed of their curiosity. Think about it… We now have a cable network devoted to nothing but Science Fiction. The highest rated show on that network is centered around paranormal investigation. One can only imagine how many minds have been opened to the existence of unexplained phenomena through that one media outlet alone.

We, as individuals, still have a few factors working against us. Even with all of the media exposure and research available, people have a hard time confirming what they have experienced. Most of us really do not want a confrontation with a ghost. Yes, it is fun to be spooky around Halloween. Yes, it is fun to play tricks and scare ourselves with bad horror movies. But the reality is, when given the opportunity to witness a true spirit in action, a majority of us do not want to be involved. The fear that we might be overcome or somehow responsible for the phenomena is too much to take. Our close minded inner self does not allow us to experience the phenomena at its full potential. Something always stops us too soon. What is it that stops us? Is it fear, anxiety, mental blocking or some other hang up in our deep probing minds? The answer to this simple question could open up doors beyond our wildest imaginations.

Bottom line is this. Our interpretations of paranormal experiences depends on our own individual self. If you are not open to the possibilities of other realms of reality, you probably will not have any experiences in your life time. But if you are seeking, searching and investigating what could be out there, you are most likely going to find it at some point. With our beliefs and confirmations on the spirit world breaking down and opening up to other options, we are reaching new levels of consciousness. Slowly we are beginning to see proof of the intelligent energy fields. What does this proof hold for us in the future regarding unexplained phenomena? I’m not sure but we are certainly on the verge of finding a whole new way of being.

As our quest into the field of paranormal research continues to grow and new technology made available for detecting paranormal activity, we have to step back and look what the pro’s and con’s are in the field of study. Not only are you trying to prove to a skeptic that there is something ‘out of the realm’ right here staring back at them. You have to also keep other groups from trying to undermine your reputation. The best thing you can do is sit back and not worry about it. I know some newly formed groups have come to me in the past asking my advice of how to start a group and how to keep it from falling apart. There are a few things you can go by to try and keep your group from falling prey to such things.

Remember, in this field you are trying to keep your groups reputation honest and trustworthy. By this you must not trespass on private property. This can cause your groups reputation to take a downfall into the category of not be honest. When you take your members to a known place that does not allow after hour investigations, this not only looks bad on you, but looks bad on the entire ghost hunting community. And with this said, honest paranormal investigators will be banned as well from the location, mostly they cannot be granted permission to conduct an investigation. Getting granted permission is a very hard thing to do nowadays, trespassing and vandalism have been the cause of this.

Choose your members wisely! It is ok to accept members who have no experience, but it is not good if you don’t get to know the person beforehand. Some are just in it for thrill seeking and do not care about the scientific approach. It is best not to have members who are part of other groups, unless, the groups reputation is a respectable one. Why I say this is because some members may just be trying to copy you in every aspect and take it back to the other group. We have had some of this happen and then rumors spread and it’s really sad that they are not in it for science but only for thereself. In this field, groups do help each other out and sometimes pass investigations and theories among each other. No one has all the answers, that is why we are researching and looking for them.

Our group has met these credentials which has been proved to the public, once this happens you do get media attention. And this is because you have proved you are doing the job your suppose to be doing. But the downfall to this is jealousy from your surrounded groups. Things you might expect is things that is so petty and silly you have a hard time believing, especially from adults. But actually stepping back and just looking at it makes you know you are definitely doing the job for sure. The reason why I say that is because jealousy equals success in there eyes. So with that said, if a group is jealous, then you know for sure your group is a success.

Evidence. When you collect your evidence in photo’s make sure it is of good quality and not poor pixels or better yet not a guessing game to try and find the supposed ‘ghost’. A slang ghost hunter’s term called Matrixing is a common cause for alot of false positives. Your minds eye can easily pick out shapes of faces in poor quality photo’s as well as good quality photo’s. It’s always best to have several members go over the evidence as a whole and try and debunk as much as possible. Always make a mental note of everything at a location prior to an investigation so you know what you can expect in your photo. Whatever you do, never and I mean never show false evidence! This is a huge downfall which can cost you your reputation for sure and never be trusted by no one again in the paranormal field of studies. Things you should never do is beat down other groups in the public’s view OR among your own group. This is very un-professional and shows the public you are not serious about your research. In this field a “Positive Attitude” is the only one to have. Although this does happen alot, it just shows that there standards are to low to try and do better for thereself, there group and the entire community. If dwelling on how to undermine and cause deceit in another group is all there is to look for, then the research for the paranormal steps in line of being number two, which should always be at the top of the list and undermining should never be on the list, EVER!

What you should do is help in the field of study, read, learn and practice! Not only can this be a fun hobby but it is helping us get one step closer to finding answers to the unexplainable phenomena that we are trying to prove exists. Help your fellow ghost hunting groups out, this only shows you are willing to share information that can bring us one step closer. Get out in the public and educate them, it could help out alot of people that may be experiencing something, but they are not exactly sure what it is. I hope that this helps out a little bit. Just remember doing good can only help you have sucess!

Paranormal research is a continuous evolving process. To some it is an ever present need to see what is beyond us mere mortals. To others, it represents a branch of science that is yet to be touched. To understand the growing interest in the field of paranormal research, you need to free yourself of the HOllywood hype. Serious, focused paranormal investigators are on the trail of a bridge between the living and the beyond. Let’s look at the word: paranormal. It contains two parts; para and normal. The root, para, in its Latin origin means “outside or beyond.” The secondary part of the word, normal, implies that what we see around us as living, breathing life is the accepted baseline for scientific study. Put the two parts together and you get the definition, “beyond the normal.” This description sets the basis for all research in the field of unexplained phenomena. Paranormal research can be looked at scientifically or emotionally. Researchers in either setting have created a strong case for the existence of a world beyond normal. Whether you are looking at the evidence with scientific eyes or through the eyes of an individual ghost hunter, you can not deny that something does exist outside our realm of reality.

gb.jpgFebruary we were contacted by one of our local television stations about doing a special news segment on paranormal investigations and what we do out in the field. Although this was a short documentary, the showing was approximately 10 minutes, but the investigation was about 4 1/2 hours. We had no control of what was shown to the public. We were very pleased with the showing and the public’s response was over-whelming. We want extend a great big thank you to the entire news team for considering us, we all had a very good time and we all had personal experiences as a group.

Due to the negative response that has been posted by another group, we feel we have to reply with our defense. Normally we would not respond to negative posting’s directed toward our group, but we feel it’s an on going situation that has to be addressed. We have been falsely accused of our professionalism and the accusations seem to be bordering on slandering our group. We are not “thrill-seekers” and we resent being called thrill-seekers. Being accused of being a thrill seeker, when the accuser’s are not present at our investigations, they must be in a state called astral projection , which means: The process of separating oneself (or one’s self) from the physical body in trance states in order to visit other people, planes, times or locations . So therefore, does this mean this other group projects themselves on our investigations as to know what we do?

Bordering on more slander? Referring to our professionalism - we do not claim to know all the answers, we don’t go on our investigations looking to have an experience, when it happens, it happens. Ghosts cannot be called out on queue! We are a learning group as any investigative team should be. We do not have all the answers, neither does any other group. No one has claim to public property, we are not trying to take anyones territory, although we do have special permission to investigate many parts of Thomson and surrounding areas. As you know we always ask permission…and NEVER tresspass!! Also for those that did not think we were professional looking on tv, we’ve had quite a few requests for our shirts, it just happened to be 26 degrees the night of the filming and we are very sorry we had to wear so many coats to keep warm. As far as hair being in my face, I believe I have been through enough training to know how to avoid circumstances like that, especially since the wind was not blowing that night. As to debunking the bang at the window, yes we do realize that the windows are loose, we debunked that ourself. So we do agree about the bang. Even though there was no wind, the noise we heard this time was completely different from the bang and several of us at the same time saw a white massed blob smack the window and that couldn’t be debunked. Another thing we don’t ever do is go on an investigation by ourself and here are some reason why: It could be very dangerous, you could get hurt, you could get robbed or killed if you are alone and yes this could happen during daytime hours as well as night time. Another reason we do not allow this, is because it is required to always have a witness when you are investigating, especially when you are trying to debunk any situation. We do not falsify any evidence to boost our group and anyone who accuses us of this needs to show proof and back up what they are saying.

As far as being touched by an unseen presence, this is not something you cannot scientifically prove, but there have been many documented cases throughout history. There are demonic spirits that can cause harm to the living, although this is rare, we have never encountered anything of that sort, this has been documented also.

I realize this post is very extensive and covers alot of accusations against Georgia Ghost Hunters, but this is for the public to view, (since the accusations have been made for the public), to explain our side and how we represent ourself. Any further claims against our group will be ignored as we have explained ourselves in detail. Any future responses negatively toward GGH will be considered jealousy, petty and attributed to un-professionals in our field.

Intelligent Haunting
An Intelligent Haunting is thought by some to be a haunting by a responsive entity, and dynamic in nature unlike a residual haunting. A characteristic of an intelligent haunting is the ability of the phenomenon imposed by the entity to have free will or to make conscious decisions.

Residual Hauntings
A Residual Haunting is thought by some to be a replayed haunting in which no intelligent ghost, spirit, or other entity is directly involved. Much like a video tape, residual hauntings are playbacks of auditory, visual, olfactory, and other sensory phenomenon which are attributed to a traumatic event, life-altering event, or a common event of a person or place, like an echo of past events.

Residual hauntings often center on moments of intense emotion: someone’s beheading, a great battle, a murder, or even a celebration. Paranormal researchers theorize that residual hauntings are the result of discharged personal energy of a person or group of people being imprinted on the surrounding environment, most commonly at or just after death.

Benevolent Haunting
A benevolent haunting is by a ghost that seeks to help or protect the living, sometimes from an evil spirit.

Malevolent Inhuman Spirits (MIS) / Demons
A malevolent haunting is by a ghost or demon that seeks to inflict harm on the living. They are entities that have never lived as human beings. They are believed to be evil and responsible for possessions and attempted possessions of humans. Some believe them to be ?fallen angels? of God, and in league with Satan. Malevolent Inhuman Spirits are more powerful than human spirits, and can move heavy objects such as heavy furniture and appliances. They are much harder to remove from a residence, and in many cases, are impossible to remove. Rather than a home or object, they attach themselves to certain human beings in an effort to possess that person. They feed off of negative emotions of their target such as fear, hatred, and anxiety. They can cause negative personality changes in humans they infest or attempt to possess.

Benign Haunting
A benign haunting is by an entity that is either unconcerned about the living or unaware of their presence. This type may either be an intelligent or residual haunting.

Portal Hauntings
Portals aren’t really a new concept, as we’ve seen them in a lot of sci-fi flicks. But in the real world portal hauntings are considered controversial as there is little known and the idea is mostly theory or speculation. Portals are thought to be doorways to another world or dimension in which entities travel through. It’s speculated that portals are not limited to one location, region or limited to sacred ground. Typically places that experience a wide array of different types of anomalous activity such as glowing balls of light, odd creatures, strange shapes, or unexplained mists or fog, are suspected to have a portal in which these energies are traveling back and forth.

Anniversary Haunting
This do as the title suggests, only appear of the anniversary of a special event that meant something to the person while they were alive.

The Poltergeist
Poltergeist is a term used to describe a spirit or ghost that manifests itself by moving and influencing inanimate objects.

Reports of poltergeist activity typically feature heavily on raps, bumps thumps, knocks, footsteps, and bed-shaking, all without a discernible point of origin or physical reason for occurrence. Many accounts also detail objects being thrown about the room, furniture being moved, and even people being levitated.

Poltergeist phenomena are a focus of study within parapsychology. Parapsychologists define poltergeist activity as a type of uncontrolled psychokinesis. Recurrent Spontaneous Psychokinesis (RSPK) is a phrase suggested by parapsychologist William G. Roll to denote poltergeist phenomena. The longevity and consistency between poltergeist reports (the earliest one details the raining of stones and bed shaking in ancient Egypt) has left the matter open for debate within the parapsychology community.

We will not be collecting photo’s of orbs anymore, orbs are not related to a ghost. 99.9% of all orb photo’s can be ruled out as a false positive and therefore cannot be submitted as evidence. I have been researching this for several weeks now.

A orb will have to show certain characteristics of being a true orb, although they are nothing more than a ball of energy.

Characteristics of true orbs in still photo’s:

1. They must emit their own light (luminosity)
2. They must not be transparent (if you can see through them, then they are not a true orb)
3. True Orbs are never grouped, only 1-3 in a single photo, so if you have a photo with hundreds in them, then they are most likely dust particles, moisture or even a bug.

Characteristics of true orbs in video’s:

1. They must emit their own light (luminosity)
2. They must have a flight pattern

Never go alone on a ghost hunt!

Always say a prayer of protection before and after a ghost hunt.

Make sure all of your equipment is fully charged and that you have extra batteries available. Ghosts have the ability to drain fully charged instruments.

Don’t walk into an area snapping pictures right off the bat. Give those ghosts that are present some time to get used to you.

Be aware of the surroundings for your safety. For best results, always take a day walk through before doing a nighttime investigation, if possible. The other option would be to show up just before dark (dusk) and have a look around before starting.
